Drum Lessons for Everyone.

It's my belief that everyone has rhythm in them, and that everyone should be able to participate in making music. It only takes time, patience, and a little sweat. I've been a drummer most of my life and I can't live without music. In addition to playing with bands around the Twin Cities, I've taught drum lessons since I was old enough to drive. I’m just as passionate about teaching drums as I am about playing drums. I work with each student's goals in a way that helps them become well-rounded, creative drummers.

I teach drum lessons for all ages. In addition to decades of drumming experience, I have a master's degree in Elementary Education. In my past life, I taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 5th grade.

Note: My afternoon and evening lesson times are in high demand and nearly fully booked for fall 2024. If we’re unable to find a suitable time for you or your child, I’m happy to add you to a waiting list or explore beginning lessons through the Marco Polo app. If you have flexibility during the day, I currently have several available time slots.

Testimonials

For the past two years, Josh has been teaching — and mentoring — our son. We feel lucky to have found such a gifted musician who understands how to teach adolescents. Josh is serious about music, but his fun-loving attitude and good nature make our son’s drum lesson one of the highlights of his week.
— Laura & J.J. Austrian, Parents of Student
Every lesson with Josh is fun and challenging. Drumming can be so meditative and I always feel a bit cooler and more confident every time I learn something new. Josh is a patient and flexible teacher, and an incredible drummer. I feel lucky to learn from him.
— Beth K. Gibbs, Student
